Binance commits to improving the cryptocurrency ecosystem for everyone. The company aims to work closely with law enforcement agencies worldwide. This collaboration seeks to fight and prevent all types of financial crime.
As part of these initiatives, we have partnered with the Judiciary Police of Macau. This cooperation aims to implement a joint anti-scam campaign to enhance subscribers’ protection against online fraud. The campaign integrates user-specific anti-fraud notifications into our system to prevent scams.
An Anti-Fraud Safety Net
The Judiciary Police report that telecom and online fraud led to losses of over 310 million patacas ($38.6 million) last year, with telephone and investment fraud being the most common. To protect users, Binance has partnered with the Judiciary Police to establish an anti-fraud cushion
When Macau users withdraw assets from Binance, the system will show an anti-scam warning notification designed by the Judiciary Police. This alert provides hints and local police contacts, prompting users to carefully consider transaction risks and making it harder for fraudsters to exploit the platform.
The Judiciary Police of Macau are committed to combating financial crimes. Fraud protection is a core focus for us, and by partnering with Binance, we aim to help the community better identify and prevent threats in their daily lives.
Binance Extending a Successful Initiative
As in the case of the Hong Kong program, Binance is glad to partner with Macau authorities to take the program to another jurisdiction. We will conduct an initial one-month pilot campaign and test the results during that period.
Carlos Mak from Binance’s Financial Crimes Compliance Unit said: ‘Binance’s focus is always to safeguard users. Previous campaigns suggest that partnering with the Macau Judiciary Police will boost user awareness of crime prevention and enhance asset security.
Binance aims to expand this initiative to other regions and strengthen collaboration with global law enforcement in fighting cybercrime. Before that, the Macau Judiciary Police invited Binance to organize the first offline law enforcement training course.
